Doctor Who Time Crack Theory (may contain spoiler)

The new doctor who series has done a good job in making story arcs across the season. It started with Big Bad Wolf, and since, each season has had some sort of overall arc that linked episodes together. This one they seemed to be linking them together better than ever. We are only 5 episodes in, (if you are watching the BBC time) and they are doing a good job constantly linking the episodes together a bit loosely but constant.

This next bit may be spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen episode 4 or 5 if you are watching from the BBC American and not the BBC of Britain since the European release is 2 weeks ahead of the American Release. I am going to try and not divulge too much info on the episode but I may inadvertently do so, this also maybe a bit spoiling the fun in the story Arc but I doubt it too much, but be warned anyway. At the very least watch the episode first before reading, you might enjoy this more.

Alright, we all know the crack in time is the overall arc in the story, don’t know where it came from or what it wants, but in episode 5 I have proof that the doctor needed to go back in time to tell Amy to remember something he told her when she was a child.

I thought this bit was a little weird since her remembering had nothing to do with the overall story going at the moment.

She had to keep her eyes shut since their was an invading force inside her head and couldn’t opening them without her dieing, The doctor had to leave her with some guards and run off with River Song and a Bishop to find the heart of the ship.

What I saw was he came back but it was a different timeline, one that he went back to that moment, must have grabbed his coat back from the Angels, and told Amy something about remembering and left. Here’s the proof.

No Coat taken from the Weeping Angels

Again with no coat, and long sleeves not rolled up.

Rolled up sleeves.

Notice the brown coat.

Is that a Brown Coat he's wearing now.

Back with River Song, No brown coat and the sleeves not rolled up.

I tried to go back to the first episode to see what he told Amy to figure out what was going on, nothing seemed too important right now but maybe after a few more episodes it may become more clearer.

My theory is only that the Tardis caused the Crack in time when the Doctor damaged it during his regeneration cycle. This is just a theory and I really have no proof at the moment to back up but it’s the only thing that makes sense so far, how this is connected to Amy Pond no clue. The only thing I can think of is he hit a different alternate universe when he tried to jump 5 minute in the future and couldn’t tell because he was so busy being the new doctor, although that wouldn’t explain why the crack was their to begin with.

Oh well, if you have any theories going on about it let me know.

Wow. Nice catch! If this was any other show I’d have chalked it up to just bad editing / continuity, but you may be on to something.

Episode one really doesnt show him telling her anything important, the reason being that the doctor who stated “Amy you have to start trusting me…” wasnt the same one that left her alone with the soldiers. If you notice he is wearing his jacket now, when the angels took it and he never got it back, as you can see if you watch it from when it is taken to the end of the episode. So this Future doctor is popping up in her life at certain critical points when she needs to Trust him. meaning he is popping out of the cracks maybe? And this future doctor probably showed when she was sitting on her suitcase waiting for him, you can hear the tardis noise and she smiles…thats all the episode shows, but i bet thats when he told her something, and she obviously forgot. Thats all ive got at the moment, hope it helps and makes sense. Im not good at getting my thoughts across in words.

Guess I was right that the Tardis caused the Time Crack, don’t know why yet, since the latest installment of Doctor who showed piece of the explosion which was part of the tardis.
