Did You Know? – Technology Video

After you’ve picked your jaws up off the floor, let’s consider the ramifications of some of this knowledge.  Perhaps the greatest element of danger is the speed at which the world is changing these days.  The future is fantastic, surely.  But the rate at which we are hurtling toward it is mind boggling.  I, for one, already feel myself overwhelmed by knowledge each day and I regret constantly that I don’t have the time to absorb the amount of knowledge and info that’s available.  It’s hard, but we almost have to accept the fact that no matter what we do we will never be able to catch up.  That doesn’t mean we should give up or stop, however, because we as a species are consumed by our hunger for knowledge.

I think the most unsettling thing is the idea of computers that surpass the computational skills of humanity.  I think I’d like to see a sway towards improving humanity’s capabilities first.  Cybernetics Yes! Building better robot overlords no!

Last time I wasn’t too favorable in the direction that Futurama was showing and basically saying that the new season seemed in general pretty weak and felt that the series ran it’s course sadily. After finishing the next set of four episodes, The Duh-Vinci Code, Lethal Inspection, The Late Philip J. Fry, That Darn Katz!. I would like to recant my previous statement and say Futurama is back. These episodes reminded me why I loved the show.

The jokes were fast and loose, the plots were think and juicy and characters were developed into people.

Lethal Inspection was pry one of my favorite episodes of all time, even with the plot twist I saw coming it was still greatly enjoyable. Seeing Bender act strangely human or as much as a robot can was nice but not as nice as seeing baby Bender. Favorite line Hermes “It’s a calculator I ate it to gain it’s power”

The Late Philip J Fry was great and I hate time travel as plots. Usually since they are always so boring. Except everyone that Futurama does. When they tackle it they always seem to make it interesting. Favorite Line- Fry- “So professor what was the meaning of the Universe”. Professor- ” Who knows pry some hogwash about the human spirit.”

The Duh- Vinci Code was a fun one, and making Da Vinci into a crazed madman making weapons seems like something I could believe. “He really did make weapons and sold them to one army only to make a new better weapon and sold it to another one he was one devious bastard”. So having him be a loner makes perfect sense to me. Favorite line Fry “I don’t even know what language your speaking”

I would say the That Darn Katz!- was pry more of the weaker episode of the bunch but still way better than the first ones this season. Although I was a bit bothered that nibblers just never tried to just eat the cats I figured that would have solved the whole problem.
Favorite Line- Nibblers- “My best friend died in that Uniform”

Overall these episodes have shown me that the writers have their game back. And it washes all the sins off from the Iphone episode.
